In Speciation, unique organisms are introduced as members of a fictional world in which silicon-based entities develop and evolve. Reflecting the natural process of evolution, individual characteristics have proven advantageous, promoting environment-specific diversity. Refraction, colour, shape, and composition vary to accommodate a changing landscape. Although individual in their design and presentation, as a group they represent a genus and share a common ancestor. This piece is the first common ancestor within this genus. Fluidity and movement is achieved through a dynamic interplay of light and coloured acrylic. Speciation becomes a living diorama with a tangible past and evolving future.
